The room came with a king-sized bed, a small refrigerator, microwave and sink. If I needed to stay a night in Carson City again, I wouldn't hesitate to rebook at the Gold Dust West. Hotel: The hotel room was no-frills and plain, but it was clean and large which is all you can ask for. They are thrifty beyond belief and the place was just gross. For $150 a night, you can do WAY better at almost any hotel in the area. However, that isn't expected when they advertise breakfast included in room rate. Of course, you could buy a full breakfast, if you wanted to pay. The "free" breakfast was only a handful of options, all of which were scaled back to tiny portions and had an hour wait to get into the dining area. In fact, in the 5 days we spent in Carson City and the Reno area, this was the smokiest place we visited. Our non-smoking room smelled terrible of cigarette smoke. The cock ring under my bed was also somewhat discomforting. We had to buy Lysol wipes and do some serious cleaning ourselves immediately. Sticky substances on the night stand, counter, and bathroom counter were of unknown origin. "Enhanced" cleaning procedures aren't acceptable to pre-covid levels, let alone now. I am leaving 2 stars because the staff was nice.
